It is always a pleasure to return to Villa Pitiana to shoot a wedding. This wedding venue is one of the most suggestive in the countryside of Florence. Villa Pitiana is located in Donnini, on the hills surrounding Florence, very close to Reggello. It is a large manor house, built in 1200 that can accommodate large and intimate weddings. Villa Pitiana, besides numerous rooms for the newlyweds and guests of the event, also has big gardens and panoramic terraces outdoor, and ancient halls indoor. Each step of the marriage is customizable, thanks to an excellent wedding planner that the Villa offers to the couples. Also, Villa Pitiana might be the perfect place for a marvellous honeymoon.
Christie and William fell in love with the villa at first sight and decided to organise their destination wedding here in Tuscany. Villa Pitiana has been the meeting place for friends and families, coming from various countries of the world. The groom’s family is originally from South Africa, while the bride is English. Italy is equidistant from both countries, so it wasn’t difficult at all to convince friends and families. In addition to being part of a gorgeous marriage, guests had the opportunity to spend a few relaxing days in Tuscany, with the beauties of Florence less than 30 minutes away by car.
The ceremony was held in the courtyard, one of the most enchanting parts of Villa Pitiana. Christie and William have exchanged rings and vows among big walls and arches in stone. The first part of the reception was held on the magnificent garden terrace. The weather was perfect, and the guests have enjoyed champagne and canapés in front of the stunning views of Tuscany. I took the traditional family portraits in the gardens of the property. Among secular trees and panoramic sights, there are dozens of beautiful spots for outstanding wedding photos. The dinner and the first dance were held in the lounges of the villa. Guests tasted traditional specialities of the Italian cuisine. The local Chianti wine made the atmosphere more lively.
During the planning of the wedding, I found out that Christie is fond of classical art. More than anything, the bride is a lover of the beautiful and simple things in life: a horse ride, landscapes, good food and the love of beloved ones. For this reason, the wedding was chic, but above all simple. I would say almost a minimalist event: a few things but extremely elegant, perfect for the setting of Villa Pitiana and the personality of the bride. Christie was wearing an amazing dress by Elie Saab, who wrapped her body perfectly. The wide skirt was made of excellent silk tulle. A delicate veil, a bouquet of roses and a pin in the hair were the only accessories Christie was wearing.
William wore a classic black tuxedo. Shoes and accessories were coordinated.
Coming back to Villa Pitiana is always pleasant. Especially because I have the opportunity to meet special people. Christie and William are among those I will never forget. I’ll keep in my heart their kindness, their good and elegant manners and their courtesy. Warm wishes to them and their families. I hope to meet you again soon. Maybe for another beautiful wedding in Tuscany.
