Among all the beautiful areas of Tuscany, Val d’Orcia is perhaps the best. Having the chance to arrange a photo shoot in this fabulous countryside is a daydream. And that’s precisely what happened to these honeymooners from Texas. But let’s take a step back!
Pienza, San Quirico, Monticchiello, Castiglione d’Orcia surround the quintessence of Tuscany, made of gently rolling hills and orderly cypress trees that sprout along the roads. Natural minimalism, made of simplicity and ancient traditions, both in winemaking – Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most famous wines in the world – and in food, tasty and rigorously organic. But above all, an authentic and healthy lifestyle, based on the genuine and essential pleasures of life.
Because of this, spending part of the honeymoon in Val d’Orcia is an unforgettable experience. In addition to fabulous boutique hotels and spas scattered throughout the area, the Valdorcia is ideal for relaxing, and includes horseback riding, wine tastings and golfing. All of this with a view of one of the most beautiful sceneries in the world, dreamed of by wedding photographers, painters and artists in general. Wouldn’t you be happy to portray someone in this paradise? So, when these newlyweds inquired us for their honeymoon photography in Val d’Orcia, we accepted without hesitation.
The photo session took place at sunset in the countryside around Montepulciano, my favourite place in Val d’Orcia. It hasn’t been difficult at all! Both the newlyweds were very friendly, and I had a great time with them. I photographed them while strolling around with the magnificent landscape of Tuscany behind them. For some portraits, we have taken advantage of the wonderful landscape used in some scenes of the movie The Gladiator. At a certain point, I was worried because grey clouds were gathering on the horizon, but in the end, the sun has come up again and gave way to a fabulous sunset later. Looking at these pictures, would you not want to go to Val d’Orcia? If you’re about to get married, keep it in consideration for your honeymoon. Especially if you’ll spend part of it in Italy. Otherwise, every occasion is good for a photo shoot in Tuscany.
