There is no better time than a family vacation in Tuscany for a photo shoot. When all family members are relaxed, tanned by the warm Italian sun, and look flawlessly healthy – Italy makes you beautiful, like a bit of blush on your cheeks! The best formula for the perfect family shoot also demands an exceptional background for the pictures. What to say then about the Chianti hills at sunset?
The perfect excuse for the family shoot was the grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary. Because of this, the other family members arranged for them an Italian getaway. Most days had been spent at their villa near Cortona, between dips in the pool, binges on Italian food and wine, excursions to Florence, and the many activities this part of Italy offers.
So it was that, during one warm and relaxed afternoon, this American family put their most exquisite attire on and got photographed in all its glory, with the hills and cypresses so beloved by Leonardo Da Vinci all around them – and as the backdrop for their photographs. I joined them at their place and organized the portrait work, which did not take long. I captured some shots of the whole family in several spots on the grounds of the property.
After that, I sorted out smaller family groups, keeping the pictures as natural and spontaneous as possible. Because of this, I captured joyful and candid portraits that will help family members remember this wonderful time in Tuscany in years to come. Grandparents with grandchildren, parents with their kids, and some individual portraits of younger family members. Always with a smile, because after all, there is nothing more meaningful!
