Among the fantastic venues I had the chance to see last year, Borgo Stomennano holds the spot at the top. I left a piece of my heart there, and I cannot wait to go back there and relive another gorgeous wedding. Borgo Stomennano is located in the province of Siena, very close to Monteriggioni and its medieval fortress. The first impression is terrific. In order to get to the main gate, you must pass on a driveway surrounded by majestic cypress trees on both sides. A real treat! The old charm of the villa is still intact. Its walls are burned and yellowed by the sun, and blooming jasmine climb up the facades surrounding the old windows. The villa also offers a garden with ancient fountains and a lovely pool, plus many accommodations for couples and their guests. They can choose to stay inside the main house, or in one of the many small exclusive villas of the Borgo, spending the time to visit the wonders of Tuscany or relax and enjoy the pretty countryside.
This lovely English couple wanted to take advantage of all of this for their wedding at Borgo Stomennano! The Catholic ceremony took place at Chiesa di San Bartolomeo in Barberino Val d’Elsa. The spouses have greeted their guests in front of the church, leaving on a blazing red Alfa Romeo, on which I have portrayed them before getting back to Borgo Stomennano. I shot the rest of the wedding photos in the surroundings, a dream setting for every photographer. The first part of the reception took place in the garden of Borgo Stomennano, where the newlyweds enjoyed delicious cocktails and canapes; the second part again the garden, where the wedding planner and the flower designer had set up two long tables in rustic-chic style. The father of the bride and the groom have made their traditional speeches at sunset, lit only by candles. Soon after, almost at dusk, I photographed the newlyweds with the Monteriggioni fortress in the background, in the most beautiful light of the day. The party has gone on for a long time. I greeted the newlyweds after the first dance, exhausted after a long work, but happy to have documented the best day of their lives. I hope to meet them again soon, maybe still in Borgo Stomennano?
