Whatever type of destination wedding you are planning, Tuscany is the place for you. I’m not saying this just to speak . Even if you’re looking for inspiration for a wedding in the snow, or in a cave, Tuscany offers the ideal venue for a ceremony and a reception to remember for a long time. I can only imagine, with so many choices available, how difficult it is for the bride to plan a wedding from a distance.
I remember well when I found myself in the usual situation. Looking for a place out of the ordinary, to enchant my guests and offer an authentic experience within a region so beautiful, I came across so many offers, all beautiful! Here are some venues to consider before you start planning your destination wedding in Tuscany. We tried them all and they are all fabulous!
Italian Villas
Protected by large gardens with secular trees, you’ll find the most beautiful villas of Tuscany. Immersed in silence outside the common routes, they are the perfect place for ceremony and reception. Many municipalities celebrate civil ceremonies in the gardens; the caterer will take care of the cocktail and the dinner. Villa Paterno and Villa Grabau, although very different, are the most beautiful; Villa Orlando, the most special, because it sits on the banks of a lake; Villa Cora, the most luxurious, two steps away from the center of Florence; Villa Bernardini just outside Lucca, the most intimate and bon-ton.
Beach Resorts
Did you know that in Tuscany you can organize symbolic ceremonies on the beach? A lovely wedding by the sea shore of Versilia can only leave your guests in awe! The seaside resorts are the ideal setting for luxurious receptions: dinners with sparkling wine and prosecco, outdoors, under the stars of the summer nights. Bagno Annetta and Bagno Texas are the best known beach resorts. La Costa dei Barbari, a little further south, the more modern where to host the reception. The Beach Club is undoubtedly the most exclusive and luxurious.
Fairytale Castles
Although it is not exactly famous for its castles, in Tuscany there are several ones. In the nice courts you can organize a fairytale wedding different from the ordinary. Castle Vincigliata is the best known, which offers a beautiful view of the city of Florence and the hills. You can also consider the Trebbio Castle and the Castello di Meleto, which arise in the Chianti hills. Alternatively the beautiful Castello di Oliveto, very popular within the locals.
Historical cities
Tuscany is not only Florence. Its capital is certainly the best known in the world, thanks to an old town full of priceless works of art. Lucca and Siena are less known but no less fascinating. The Sala Verde of Palazzo Orsetti hosts civil ceremonies inside the city walls; Piazza del Campo, the one of the Palio di Siena, is waiting for you to take wedding photographs to be remembered for a long time.
The farmhouses on the hills
The farmhouses are very popular among tourists who want to spend a few relaxing days on the hills of Tuscany. In fact they are extraordinary places where to organize a simple and authentic wedding. The most famous are La Bandita in Pienza, Borgo Santo Pietro and Castello di Casole near Siena, Tenuta Santo Pietro near Lucca.
