The Ultimate List of the Best Tuscany Venues

When planning our wedding, we had the chance to visit tons of venues here in Tuscany. Looking for the best fit was one of the most exhausting things we’ve ever done, and I realised how hard it must be from abroad. There are soooo many beautiful places in Tuscany!! And finding the best match is tough. 🙁

You must read every Trip Advisor or Facebook review, and browse hundreds of websites. Send emails, wait for a response, compare photos, etc. Of course, everything is inspiring, but also very time-consuming. A wedding planner can help you but I wish to recommend you some of the most beautiful Tuscany venues we’ve discovered through the last ten years, with a brief review along.

Castiglion del Bosco

If you are looking for an exclusive and luxurious venue to organise your wedding, Castiglion del Bosco is the place for you. It is located a few miles from Montalcino, in the UNESCO featured Val d’Orcia Natural Park, surrounded by pristine forest and hectares of golf courses. The main Borgo is located on a hilltop and provides welcoming suites and rooms with luxurious amenities, two casual restaurants for drinks and snacks, a small church for religious ceremonies and a fascinating ruin – your wedding photographer with thank you.

All around, lost inside the property, there are ten large exclusive villas, which can be booked weekly for events and celebrations. From any spot of the property, you will enjoy panoramic views of Montalcino and the surrounding countryside.

Castiglion del Bosco is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful retreats of Tuscany; here you will find everything you would expect from a 5-star hotel and beyond. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and everything has been meticulously curated and thought out. The staff at the hotel are exceptionally courteous and professional. Highly Recommended!

Borgo Santo Pietro

The Relais Borgo Santo Pietro is a luxury hotel located in the south of Tuscany. It’s close to the beautiful Abbey of San Galgano, lost in the countryside and surrounded by the greenery. It’s a wonderful venue to organise ceremonies and receptions, thanks to the many villas to accommodate families and guests. In my opinion, it’s the best venue for elopements and honeymoons as well.

It’s one of the most exclusive venues for destination weddings in Tuscany, located about 30 minutes far from Florence airport. Thanks to its convenient position, it’s also the best for touring Chianti, Florence and Siena areas.

The villa provides numerous areas for ceremony and reception. You can organise them in the courtyard, by the pool or in the fabulous garden with a view. The villa areas are lush and welcoming, and all the rooms are comfy and quiet with extensive vineyard views. It also has a smaller hotel on the same property, not physically in the villa – great to host friends and families from abroad. From the many terraces, you see the Duomo of Florence illuminated at night. The villa also offers wine and olive tasting tour.

Villa Grabau

The countryside of Lucca is peppered with impressive villas in elegant gardens, many of them closed to the public or in state of decay as the maintenance is not provided by state funding anymore. Villa Grabau is one of the smaller ones still inhabited by the owners. Located just 5 miles from the centre, it provides a dreamy setting for anyone wishing to celebrate among the precious, centuries-old trees of the gardens.

From 1640, the Italian Garden welcomes spouses and guests with the beauty of its symmetries and the extraordinary collection of lemons in aged terracotta pots, the elegant rooms of the Villa, entirely furnished and frescoed. The gardens are impeccably well maintained and a pleasure to walk through. Most wondrous the numerous pots with lemon trees and the Orangerie with the most massive ficus you might ever see hanging from the ceilings.

Borgo Stomennano is the most romantic place in the world. Although being lost among olive groves and vineyards, this old village of 1300 is just 50 minutes of an easy drive from Florence airport, a stone throw from the picturesque town of Monteriggioni. Its majestic driveway, surrounded by secular cypress trees lined on the sides, will make you fall in love at first sight. The ancient estate is made up of a main bigger villa, rich and vibrant with history and elegance, plus a few rustic yet luxurious farmhouses around the infinity pool. Each set of apartments had their distinctive character, and the rooms of the villa are like a living museum.

The Borgo can host up to 200 guests and provides many different areas for every stage of the event. Or you can just ignore all of these and take a few hours to explore the venue; you will discover tons of new great spots.

As for the wedding photos, Borgo Stomennano is the dreamiest and pin-worthy wedding venue in all of Tuscany. Luisa, Nicoletta and their family (including a huge and friendly dog named Dante) handle it with care and, for this reason, it is very popular for international weddings. Couples can book the entire village weekly, and take advantage of the exceptional features, in addition to the fabulous swimming pool. The venue provides a good backup plan in case of bad weather. The property is all about its owner, a lady who lives in a private villa next door, gifted with exquisite taste. The architecture blends seamlessly with the vegetation and the surrounding countryside. Here you can see walls crossed by creepers, windows and arches creating their space between the green and luxuriant ivy; it’s like a museum into a garden. The expertly manicured lawns, the vistas of the hills framed by the wide windows, the flowers, everything is unbelievable.

Villa Paterno doesn’t provide any accommodation for the guests, but there’s a beautiful resort nearby with lots of rooms and facilities. It’s very popular for Italian weddings also, so I do recommend to book it in advance.
